In Class Today:  Working on Themes from OF MICE AND MEN

  1. Pick out quotes from your notes/reading that illustrate any of the themes we highlighted yesterday.
  2. Write out the quote with proper MLA Citation (Steinbeck 52) on a post it note (it’ okay to just write the first couple of words and last couple separated by an ellipsis “I pledge allegiance….with liberty and justice for all”.
  3. Add your post its to the proper poster on the tables along the back wall.

MONDAY/TUESDAY: FEB. 13/14

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. What does the “drowning” incident George relates to Slim tell us about George and Lennie’s relationship.
  2. What is the world of the ranch like?  (who/what does well there.  What is a recipe for failure)?
  3. How are we supposed to feel about Slim?  Are we supposed to like him or not like him.?
  4. What happens to Curley’s dog?  Do you think that foreshadows the fate of any other character.

TUESDAY FEB. 7

LEARNING TARGETS:  you should be able to explain

  • The definition of FORESHADOWING in your own words
  • Identify key examples of FORESHADOWING from Chapter Two of “Of Mice and Men.”

 

TASKS

  1. Complete foreshadowing assignment on Google Classroom
  2. Read Section III for TOMORROW (if you are efficient with your time, you should have roughly 1/2 hour to read in class).
