NEW UNIT: Literary Timeline: Over the next three-four weeks we are going to take a whirlwind tour through the history of American Literature. By the end of the unit you will have tasted samples from each major movement and period to give you a sampling of the ideas, themes and styles of those time periods. This will also help put you in position for your Research Paper Unit in which you will look at the background of one author.

READING
- CCR1: Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences fro it. Cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support your conclusions drawn from the text.
- CCR2: Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize key and supporting details.
- CCR 6: Assess how point of view or purpose shapes the content and style of a text
