MONDAY/TUESDAY March 21/22

LEARNING TARGETS: As a result of these classes you should be able to map the key events of chapter 7 and discuss their significance

VOCAB WARMUP: Monday Slides 6-7, Tuesday, Slides 8-9

In class:

  • Monday: Read Ch. 7 in class (it’s a long one)
  • Tuesday: Chapter 7 mapping activity

THE GREAT GATSBY:  CHAPTER 7 MAPPING EXERCISE

YOUR TASK:  Use a sheet of printer paper to draw a map of the action in Ch.7.   Mark/annotate five specific scenes from within Chapter 7 on the map.  (there are basically five changes in setting throughout the chapter. You’ll plot the scene from each one on the map).

  • Number these chronologically 1-5
  • Near/next to each number include:
    • The location
    • A brief (shoot for 25 words or fewer description of what happens)
    • One quote, with MLA citation, that is representative of each scene.
    • (Note, two locations occur twice, they’ll likely be 1 and 5 and 2 and 4 on your map.
