  • Explain the big ideas behind of Mice and Men
    • What was Steinbeck saying about how human connection is necessary order to build a better life.
    • What is Steinbeck saying about the importance of friendship (and why does your teacher think that those who believe the story is mostly about friendship are limiting themselves a bit).
  • Be able to decide how each of the texts we looked at this unit fit with the essay prompts. (Handout/grid for pre-thinking was given out in class. Recommended you spend some time with that before Monday). A digital copy was posted to classroom.

OK–my four classes got to different points on Wednesday, so I’m going to lump Thursday and Friday together. In short, we’ll be wrapping up with the poems we studied in class Wednesday , reviewing for the VOCAB quiz Friday and starting to look at the short story “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”
