• Rules
  • No devices after first five, last five minutes
  • Reading + post to goodreads = 5 points per day/25 per week.
  • If I catch you not reading, I will gently point it out/remind you once, then point deductions start.

REMINDERS:  Starting Independent Reading Unit (memoir) next week.  HAVE CHROME BOOK EVERY DAY TO DO LOGS THROUGH GOOD READS!!

MOSTLY WRITING DAYS (poetry portfolios).

Looked at two new poems and discussed poetic techniques.

• WEDNESDAY:  When I heard the learn’d astronomer by Walt Whitman
• THURSDAY: 13 ways of looking at a blackbird by Wallace Stevens

WORK DAY:

• Two more poems (draft form) to Classroom by end of hour.
• Tomorrow will be an editing/revising day.
• Final Two poems due to classroom (Draft Form) by Friday (I know, I originally said Thursday but we had a gap in our schedule.

FINAL POETRY PROJECT DUE:  Friday, Oct 14  (look for specific details in classroom by Thursday)

OTHER REMINDERS:  Remember, Independent reading unit coming up starting next week.  You will need to get a book–memoir/autobiography/biography.  Book talk in library Next Tuesday.

DISTANT EARLY WARNING:

• The week after next we will be starting an INDEPENDENT READING UNIT.  You will all need a book to read.  That book needs to be a MEMOIR/BIOGRAPHY/AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
  • We will go to the library for a book talk early in the week after next and I will be posting some mini book previews here, but if you have a person or a subject you really want to read about, you might want to start thinking long and hard about that.
