FORMAT

- Vocab section : two parts
- Sentences with “Fill in the Blank”
- Vocab in context: reading passages with vocab words used. Questions ask you to come up with best meaning.
- Poetry section
- read poems, answer questions–interpretation and identification of poetic devices.
- To Kill A Mockingbird section
- Questions about the book–more thematic than “what happened.” Require some analysis.
- Dead Poet’s Society Section
- Questions both on the Four Transcendentalist Readings we did in class (“Nature” “Self-Reliance” “Walden” Civil Disobedience”) and the film.
- Questions are more thematic/analytical than straight knowledge.
- Independent Reading Section:
- You will have a passage to read and then there will be questions that test both your reading skills/strategies but also your understanding of the techniques the writer uses.
